Cost: Free
Description: Students worldwide in grades 9–12 submit original, unpublished work responding to an annual prompt. Entries may be a story or essay (max 600 words) or a poem (10–50 lines). Submissions are teacher-nominated, judged anonymously by editors including bestselling author Carol Edgarian .
Dates: Annual contest; current prompt period runs until February 5, 2025; winners will be announced mid‑April 2025

Additional Info: 1st place $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100; finalists $50 each. Winners receive mentorship via Zoom and publication in Narrative; schools also recognized.
