Description: The Voice of Democracy is a national audio-essay competition sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), inviting high school students to express their views on patriotic themes. Participants write and record a 3–5 minute essay addressing the 2026 theme, “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?” The contest emphasizes the development of critical thinking and public speaking skills, offering students a platform to voice their perspectives on American democracy.

Additional Info: National first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship; other national scholarships range from $1,000 to $16,000. State-level winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in March 2026.
