Description: Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving competition where student teams tackle long-term challenges in areas like performance and design. Teams also participate in spontaneous problem-solving sessions during competitions. The program emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and hands-on learning, encouraging students to develop original solutions within defined constraints.

Dates:

  • Regional tournaments: Winter 2025 (dates vary by region)

  • World Finals: May 21–25, 2025, at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI

Grade Levels: Grades 3–12 (Divisions I–III)

  • Division I: Grades 3–5

  • Division II: Grades 6–8

  • Division III: Grades 9–12 Note: The oldest team member determines the division.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Location Requirements: None

Additional Info: Teams consist of up to seven students and are judged on long-term problem solutions, style, and spontaneous problem-solving. Top teams advance from regional to state and then to World Finals.
