Description: The Congressional Essay Contest invites high school students to explore contemporary issues through a 750-word essay. Winners receive a full scholarship to the Congressional Seminar in Washington, D.C., where they engage in a civics-focused workshop, participate in a Model Congress, and visit national landmarks. The program emphasizes civic engagement, public speaking, and leadership development.
Dates: Essay submissions are due by December 1, 2024. The Congressional Seminar will be held from June 23–27, 2025.

Additional Info: Applicants must be at least 16 years old by June 2025. The 2024–2025 essay topic is: “Explain whether existing defamation and libel laws are or are not sufficient to prohibit baseless AI-generated and distributed content.”
