Louise Louis/Emily F. Bourne Student Poetry Award

Cost: Paid ($10 submission fee for non-members); free for Poetry Society of America members

Description: This annual award, presented by the Poetry Society of America, recognizes the best unpublished poem by a U.S. high school student in grades 9 through 12. The competition aims to encourage young poets to showcase their talent and gain national recognition.

Dates: Submissions are accepted from October 1 to December 31, 2024

Grade Levels: Grades 9–12

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Location Requirements: United States

Additional Info: The award is endowed under the wills of Louise Louis Whitbread and Ruth M. Bourne. Submissions must be original, unpublished works, and each student may submit only one poem.
